Don't forget high ISO
on your digital SLR
- Ian Walker (UK) shares
a selection of macro images taken on a Nikon D50 and Minolta
7D at 1600ASA to show that the extra speed is useful on
dull winter days and the 'digital grain' can form part
of the picture.
In
focus: British
Phycological Society website is an attractively presented
and informative site describing the society's membership
benefits, publications and activities. Thank you to Jan Krokowski,
editor of the 'Phycologist' for the link info'.
The Wannenköpfe
is Fred
Kruijen's website sharing his knowledge of and enthusiasm for a local quarry in
Germany and the minerals that can be found
there, includes many illustrations. Thanks to Fred for the link info'.
Microscopy-UK website 2005
visitor stats. Feedback tends to be a bit
slim to contributors so hope this stats summary
does show that folk are visiting and hopefully
enjoying the site's resources.
Years totals: visitors - 2.57
million, page accesses - 10.6 million, data
transferred - 994 Gbytes. Monthly average:
visitors - 214 000, page accesses - 889
000 (over a million a month for Sep-Nov),
data transferred - 82.8 Gbytes.
Last, but by no means least,
a big thanks to my colleague Maurice Smith,
site founder and owner who quietly behind the
scenes on finding our internet provider was
frustratingly pulling the plug on our main site
undertook some expensive overseas phone calls,
and rapidly set up an a/c on a new server to
solve the problem. ..... (and the Micscape Ed's
modem is close to meltdown 16 000 files later
after reuploading the site).
