Coming Soon: The new professional Newton Nm1 microscope, aka the Millennium Health microscope, is now in production; its specifications and appearance are impressive. It is an evolution of the original folded-optics designs of Dr. McArthur and their derivatives.

How does the Nm1 compare to other folded-optics models, e.g., McArthur, Nikon Model H, TWX-1, Swift FM-31, and to earlier Dickinson/Dunning designs?

 

Micscape contributor, R. Jordan Kreindler, a collector of and expert on the performance of field microscopes, is currently writing a two-part series. Part 1, which will be published next month, details the evolution of folded-optics designs. Part 2 discusses the design, and assesses the performance, of the Nm1 in its now most complete and highly specified form.
