Diatoms from an unusual site in Cuba - Robert McLaughlin (USA) and David Richman (USA) share an article with species list and selected illustrations of the extensive diatoms from this varied habitat. A close-up view of an Azalea - Brian Johnston (Canada) illustrates the macro and microscopic features of this attractive and popular plant. A different stereo viewer for your prints - Raymond Sloss (UK) shares a simple and practical design. Life in an old woodworm hole. Further trials with the DIY photomacroscope - Paul James (UK) finds an intriguing fungi and predator in some old wood and uses the photomacroscope to image them. Laurence Hardman 1808 - 1896 - Brian Stevenson (USA) discusses and illustrates examples of the work of this amateur and prolific preparer of arranged diatom slides. Calibrating photo eyepieces on microscopes - Michael Reese Much (USA) shares an illustrated practical guide. A close-up view of a Bougainvillea hybrid - Brian Johnston (Canada) illustrates this plant's interesting features on the macro and microscopic scale.
Diatoms of the Arid Southwest hosted by New Mexico State University - Rebecca Bixby, Richard Carter, Robert McLaughlin and David Richman are compiling a valuable and attractive resource on the diatoms of 'Arizona, New Mexico and Trans-Pecos Texas'. 'More than Meets the Eye' Photo Exhibition - Michael Reese Much, one of Micscape's contributors, is presenting a striking print selection of macro images of insects created using stacking techniques at the Da Vinci Science Center, Allentown, PA, US. He used a homemade macrophotography outfit. Follow website link for details. Dispersion Staining Using a 1.2 - 1.3 NA Cardioid Darkfield Condenser - Ted Clarke has kindly provided a link to his article on this technique presented in the McCrone Research Institute's 'The Microscope Journal'.
