Hi there! Are you keen to investigate the world in close-up .... but don't know where to start? To help you we have tried to select a few of the many features on the Microscopy UK / Micscape Web site which we hope will set you off on the right track.

• Guidelines on buying a microscope - Illustrates the main types i.e. compound, stereo microscope and also designs especially for the youngster. Specific makers or dealers are not recommended but where to seek expert buying advice is given.

• Larry Legg's Learner Page A new series that gently talks you through various techniques. The first in the series shows how you can easily make permanent slides using commonly available materials.

• Nature Walks Monthly walks that show some of the fascinating aspects of nature that can be enjoyed with either a hand lens or low power microscope at different times of the year.

Please let us know if there are some aspects of the microscopic world which we do not adequately cover for the novice or beginner. We are trying to continually improve on and add to the site, but feedback on which areas we should concentrate on would be particularly helpful.
