Free swimming medusa stage of Obelia. This individual is about 1 mm in diameter. The mouth is situated in the centre. This planktonic stage will reproduce sexually and produce eggs that develop into ciliated larvae. These will attach themself to a surface and transform into the sessile hydroid stage.
