Introduction

Bright-field (or brightfield) illumination with a compound microscope is commonly used when observing specimens. It is widely used for teaching microscopy at schools and for research applications in histology and histopathology. Additionally, we will briefly discuss the basics of staining specimens for bright-field observation.
