Simocephalus vetulus,

the little dark oval on the right is the heart.

     
 

Ceriodaphnia reticulata

Read the Micscape article "Making darkfield illumination is easy" to learn how to create this special effect.

Polyphemus pediculus,

with its grabbing feet, antennae for locomotion and distinct elongated tail spine. In the brood pouch the early development of the young is already visible. The stomach contents appear as brown matter.
