This attractive image was kindly sent to Micscape by Elan Mikel Sudberg. It was taken between 'crossed polar' filters at 400X visual magnification. Elan tells us it is 'a cluster of prismatic calcium oxalate crystals found in the rhizome of Akebia trifoliata (San Ye Mu Tong).'
